and I am an artist.
I have recently graduated from the Northern Illinois School of Fine Art as an undergrad with an emphasis in painting. I am very excited to get my career as an artist going. My emphasis is oil and acrylic painting, however I work in a large variety of media including drawing, watercolor, intaglio, serigraphy, lithography, fibers, and sculpture. I have also done some installation. I'm always excited to try something new.
As I'm sure you have discovered, I sort of like the color Pink. To be quite honest, I'm crazy in love with the color. Some may call it unhealthy. I've had a crush on it since before I can remember. I blame it on my mother who would dress me in nothing but Pink when I was a baby. My father had to beg to buy me one yellow dress (interestingly enough, I would probably say that yellow is my second favorite color). and I have never grown bored of it. I even kept my relationship with Pink in middle school when Pink suddenly wasn't cool anymore.
Then came high school, and that's when the real trouble came. Not only was Pink not uncool anymore, but it was popular and in style! Suddenly I had to compete with all of these other people! One plus about this newfound fame was that it was much easier for me to find... and I sported Pink everywhere! Although, so did everyone else, but they all knew that I was the favorite. I flirted with Pink a lot in my artwork in high school. My art teachers even banned me from it at one point! I think they were jealous. :)
But when I entered college, just like people mature, so do relationships. And just like human relationships mature, so did mine with Pink. I've included Pink in my artwork quite a bit. My professors had taken notice and they were kind enough not to ban it. In fact, they encouraged it! They told me to explore Pink, get to know it, all of it. And to embrace it!
No longer do I just like Pink. I love and adore it! No longer is this just a crush or a friendship, it's a full blown love affair!
All of this is to say, is that I love Pink!
Did I achieve it? I'm not sure...
I would like to say that I have. Things would be a whole lot easier if I did, but I don't think so. Instead, I think I developed many different styles at once. For a while I struggled with this, but suddenly I came upon a realization... I have many styles and I'm going in many different directions, but they all have a single thing in common.
